BGD e-GOV CIRT concludes Five-Day Advanced Cyber Security Training for West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL)

The Bangladesh e-Government Computer Incident Response Team (BGD e-GOV CIRT), under the ICT Division of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, successfully concluded a five-day hands-on training program on "Advanced Cyber Security" for the officials of West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL). The training was held from 19 April to 23 April 2026.

The training program was specifically designed to strengthen the incident handling capacity and cybersecurity posture of WZPDCL, one of the key public utility organizations responsible for power distribution in the western zone of Bangladesh. Participants from ICT department of WZPDCL took part in the intensive sessions covering a wide range of critical cybersecurity domains, including:

  • Cyber-related vulnerabilities and risk assessment
  • Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) and threat analysis
  • Cyber security fundamentals, frameworks, and best practices
  • Incident detection, response, and mitigation strategies

The program was facilitated by experienced cybersecurity professionals and trainers from BGD e-GOV CIRT, who delivered hands-on, practical sessions tailored to the operational context of the power sector.

On the concluding day of the training, Md. Nazmul Haque Khandoker, Project Director, BGD e-GOV CIRT, graced the event with his presence and delivered a keynote address emphasizing the growing importance of cybersecurity in protecting critical national infrastructure. He highlighted that as Bangladesh accelerates its digital transformation, safeguarding key sectors such as energy and power distribution from cyber threats has become a national priority.

He also engaged directly with the participants, patiently listening to their feedback and experiences gathered throughout the five-day program. He appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of the WZPDCL officials and encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained to build a resilient cyber defense within their organization.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the program, noting that the training had significantly enhanced their awareness and technical capabilities in identifying and responding to cyber threats.

BGD e-GOV CIRT reaffirms its commitment to building a cyber-resilient Bangladesh by conducting targeted capacity-building programs for government and public sector organizations across the country.
