Information and communications technology (ICT) present one of the most critical modern challenges to global security. The cyber threats have seen a paradigm shift with the advents of new technologies. Ensuring cyber security requires strong international bilateral and multilateral partnership among the countries and the Industries. Threat feeds predict that the country may face crisis due to a state or terrorist group weaponizing ICTs to devastate critical infrastructure or military logistics networks. The proliferation of asymmetric warfare (i.e., conflicts between nations or groups that have disparate military capabilities) has increased states’ use of ICTs, which necessitates the improvement of resilience to thwart such attacks.

There is an urgent need for cooperation among states to mitigate threats such as cybercrime, cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, electronic espionage, bulk data interception, and offensive operations intended to project power by the application of force in and through cyberspace. Emerging cyber threats could precipitate massive economic and societal damage, and international efforts need to be recalibrated to account for this new reality.

The increasing digitalization of government and business has made global economy more vulnerable to cyberattacks, not only from states but also from criminal organizations and other nonstate actors. Emerging cyber threats could precipitate massive economic and societal damage. The Government of Bangladesh through ICT Division organized a concert. The proceeds from the concert was donated to the UNDP to help least developed countries to strengthen their cyber security.

The digital transformation has gathered pace and cloud computing now plays an important role in the digitalization and data sovereignty. This edition of the magazine has included article on the cloud computing to disseminate knowledge on the cloud technology and associated cyber threats.
